Jolla shows its Sailfish mobile OS running on Android phones

Jolla's first Sailfish-based smartphone

Low operating costs combined with a differentiated operating system and close communication with users will help Jolla survive in the cutthroat smartphone market, according to CEO Tomi Pienimäki.
The last two weeks have been busy for Finnish company Jolla, which last week announced that it had shipped a commercial version of its Sailfish OS and then headed for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Being a small company trying to compete with giants like Apple and Samsung has both its ups and downs, according to Pienimäki. One advantage is that low operating costs mean it doesn’t have to sell many phones to survive.
“The market is huge and we don’t need a large share. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of phones yearly, but not more than that,”

Microsoft Starts Giving Away Windows Phone OS in India

The future of Microsoft lies with free Windows. That has never been clearer than it is today.
In India, according to a report by the Times of India, the software giant is now letting smartphone makers use its Windows Phone operating system at no cost, hoping to expand the reach of the OS. In a world where Google’s Android mobile operating system is available free of charge — letting hardware manufacturers more easily build smartphones and tablets, particularly in parts of the world where the market is still developing — this move only makes sense for Microsoft, and it’s part of a larger shift by the company towards free OS software.

The future of mobile: Less phone, more operating system

The future of mobile: Less phone, more operating system

It’s still early in 2014, and news from the Mobile World Congress talks about a next generation of smartphones that will blow people’s minds, with dazzling hardware advances, great software, and new features that will make life easier, healthier and more fun.
Or will they? What if the Galaxy S5 is just as good as the S4 for 99 percent of our needs? After all, recent history has shown that the “revolutionary” 64-bit chip in Apple’s iPhone 5S has generated less than 1 percent of real value to 99 percent of its users.
The introduction of iOS 7 was actually the excuse I needed to try out Android. I went ahead and made the transition last year. I still remember the media and friends calling iOS 7 “revolutionary” — that is, repeating the words proclaimed by Apple. Aside from a few interesting introductions, like the support for iBeacons, iOS 7 was a time-consuming design catch-up Apple had to play. And even die-hard iOS users needed some time to adapt to the idiosyncrasies the new version of the mobile operating system (OS) had introduced.

Firmware CyanogenMod 9 ICS 4.0.4 FINAL for LG P500

A few days ago came the next update of the beloved firmware CyanogenMod 9, based on a version of Android 4.0.4. Install the firmware, I noticed that it is much smoother than the previous version. Now let's talk has been changed or added in this version.

Changes:
  • Slow but working panorama
  • Smooth lifting videos
  • Acceleration interface
  • New animation boot
  • Distribution of internet for wi-fi
The first thing I saw is that the firmware was very smooth, there was not observed any hang and jerks.Recompile the kernel was esteemed romodelom Hephappy, was better to hold a charge (but that's my opinion)In Settings you saw a new item called Partition info, going into it, we can see how much we have left in which any section (system, data, ceche, sdcard, and EXT)Then go to the point of the system, we see a new feature Show navigation bar (this feature allows you to add to the bottom status bar extra keys namely menu, home, back it is very convenient if you Including this, restart the machine to make it work)And lastly added a new bottle animation (the same bottle animation built into the firmware cm10)
